Scribble – The Ultimate Tinkercad Personalization Tool!

If you’re a fan of the Tinkercad Shapes panel, you might have noticed we’ve been busy adding new features like collections and customized parts for more ways to bring your imagination to life. And while we don’t like to pick favorites… we think we might have the BEST way to personalize in Tinkercad yet: SCRIBBLE! With Scribble (Beta), you can DRAW your very own custom shapes – all you need is a finger, and you’re ready to go!

There are 2 easy ways to Scribble. Start by clicking on this icon in the Shapes panel, and a 2D panel will appear where you can draw any shape, pattern or design using your finger touchpad (laptop), touch screen (tablet), or mouse (desktop). Undo, redo, and erase are always options, so there is no risk in letting your imagination run wild! As you draw, a persistent preview window will show you how your drawing will appear in the 3D environment. Ready to bring your creation into the 3rd dimension? Simply click “Done”, and your Scribble is automatically dropped into your Tinkercad workplane where you can manipulate it, change its color, etc. – just like any other shape.

Another way to use Scribble is to create more abstract, fully contained shapes unlike any other in the Shapes panel. Just click on the Scribble icon, then select this Shape tool at the bottom of the 2D panel. No matter what you draw, your shape will be fully enclosed and filled in. But we also added a cut-out tool, so you’ll never feel fenced in :-).

When it comes down to it, the best way to see Scribble is to try it out for yourself. It’s great for newbies just getting their 3D designing feet wet, and also a lot of fun for more experienced designers who want to give shape to their unique vision.
